Sixth Form

The Sixth Form at Jo Richardson Community School is growing.

The school site has a sixth form area with common room, study space and classrooms. Students will be able to use the excellent sports facilities, dance studios, IT suites, library and the dining and recreation areas.

This year we have been working to develop an atmosphere that will allow successful study and an enjoyable social life. We have been listening to our students and staff. We have created ways of working that benefit and support students.

Subject staff are qualified to teach A Level and Vocational Courses.  They will be dedicated to working hard with you and providing a high level of professional teaching. There will also be staff responsible for the mentoring and care of students through a tutor group system and opportunities for one-to-one guidance and support.

As well as a wide-range of courses we will also offer opportunities for community service, young enterprise, sport, music, drama, university visits, careers advice and plenty of social events. There are academic events run by the consortium to improve your study skills, your chance of getting to university and your confidence.

We have high expectations of the attitude of our students. If you come to Jo Richardson you will take responsibility for your own learning and develop independent study skills and habits. You will be expected to use your ‘free’ time positively and to contribute to sixth form life and to the whole school community. You will have to fit in with our code of behaviour – respecting other students, staff and the school facilities.

The OFSTED inspection of 2008 considered the Sixth Form to be good.

The staff at Jo Richardson will work in partnership with you to ensure “Success for All”.
