Introduction 2012
The ICT department in terms of student successes continues to go from strength to strength. Our core strength this year has been our intervention programme and our focus on top-end grades.
- 43% of our year 11 students at KS4 in core achieved a ‘Distinction’ grade, that’s 88 students.
- 47% of our year 11 students at KS4 in double award achieved a ‘Distinction’ grade.
- 66% of our year 13 students at KS5 achieved a ‘Distinction’
Out students have said: “ICT is fun, creative, engaging and helps you with expressing yourself, and WILL help you in the real world and in all other lessons”
“ICT is a good subject. I liked the interactive and challenging aspects, such as web design and game making. I highly rate the subject if ICT because you learn so much.

- To continue to meet performance targets across KS3.
- Focus lunch time intervention for student showing limited progress
- To further develop and review our Key Stage 3 curriculum to ensure we meet follow the government guidance.
- To review and develop our work to support our most able students to improve learning outcomes at KS3
- To raise attainment by improving the quality of teaching and learning across the key stage.

Priorities for KS4 this year:
- New syllabus
- Removal of ICT out of core and so therefore a focus must be a focus marketing on year 10 attainment and targets
- Awareness of key progress indicators by all staff
- To continue to meet performance targets across KS4
- To further develop and review our Key Stage 4 curriculum to ensure we meet follow the government guidance.
- To review and develop our work to support our most able students to improve learning outcomes at KS4.
- To raise attainment by improving the quality of teaching and learning across the key stage.

Priorities for KS5 this year:
- In year 13, focused intervention to ensure targets are met or exceeded
- Individual personal development plans for students, so the focus on progress is a constant
- To continue to meet performance targets across KS5
- To further develop and review our Key Stage 5 curriculum to ensure we meet follow the government guidance.
- To review and develop our work to support our most able students to improve learning outcomes at KS5. Curriculum development
At present our offer consists of:
- OCR National Level 3 in ICT (Year 13)
- BTEC IT Level 3 (in year 12, to allow students the flexibility of transferring after AS)
Curriculum developments
At present in light of the shift in the ICT agenda we are working on:
- A revised offer, with a view of a level 2 offer and a further A ‘level in IT.
Extra-curricular Activities / Special Events
- Focused lunchtime sessions for KS3
- Focused intervention for KS4 students
- Year 10 curriculum days based around creative animations to facilitate early entry
Looking Ahead - Key Priorities for 2012/13
- To continue to meet performance targets across KS3, KS4, and KS5.
- To further develop and review our Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 curriculum
- To review and develop our work to support our most able
- To improve the consistency of practice in learning and teaching
- To continue to curriculum development
- To be innovative in terms of extra-curricular experiences
- Increase uptake of GCSE, and KS5 ICT.
